The first thing that I noticed about this book is that the narrator is Death and we see his feelings and thoughts about the events that he narrates. I found it very original that it was not one of the characters or a normal third person narrator, as it happens in most books. The result is an interesting mix of first person (Death's encounters with the characters) and third person (what he knows from the girl's journal) narrative that works rather well.

What I didn't like is all the notes. I don't usually mind footnotes that you can easily skip if you're not interested, but these are in the middle of the text, which makes them part of the story. You don't have to read them, but I found them distracting.

The plot was ok and I liked to see teenage characters acting like they're teenagers instead of adults, as it happens in other books. However, they sounded too naïve sometimes. I don't know how much children knew of what was going on, but their lack of knowledge about a few topics was a bit surprising.

Lo primero que noté al leer este libro es que el narrador es la Muerte y podemos ver sus sentimientos y pensamientos de los acontecimientos que narra. Me pareció muy original que no fuera uno de los personajes o un narrador normal en tercera persona, como ocurre en la mayoría de los libros. El resultado es una mezcla interesante de narrativa en primera persona (los encuentros que tiene Muerte con los personajes) y tercera persona (lo que ella conoce habiendo leído el diario de la chica), que funciona muy bien.

Lo que no me gustó fueron todas las anotaciones. No me suele importar que haya notas al pie de página que se pueden saltar muy fácilmente si uno no está interesado en leerlas, pero éstas están en el medio del texto, lo que las hace parte de la historia. No hace falta leerlas, pero me distrajeron un poco.

El argumento está bien y me gustó ver personajes adolescentes comportándose como adolescentes en lugar de como adultos, como ocurre en otros libros. Sin embargo, a veces parecían demasiado inocentes. No sé cuánto sabían los niños de la época de lo que estaba ocurriendo, pero me sorprendió un poco su falta de conocimientos de algunos temas.
